Ian Phillips MSc MBA C.Eng

Energy Transition Advisory was founded by Ian Phillips, who has over 20 years experience in the oil and gas industry, and nearly 15 years experience in the rapidly evolving energy transition.

He offers :-

Deep expertise and understanding of all aspects of the Energy Transition, and expert in the full range of low carbon technologies and CCS. Gained through 8 years as Technical Director of world’s first CCS company and 6 years as CEO of a technology support organisation – and most recently as Development Director of the company developing Project Acorn – the UK’s first low carbon hydrogen and CCS projects.

Experienced and highly regarded leader - having built, led and managed high performing teams in a variety of projects and organisations. Anonymous 360˚ feedback has consistently shown that my inclusive style empowers and enables teams to achieve beyond expectations in a variety of situations.

Widely networked to Board level across the UK, Europe and globally - with extensive experience of meeting (and managing) the demands of a complex range of senior stakeholders in the public and private sectors. Long term and continuous interaction with senior oil and gas and more recently low-carbon industry leadership, government agencies, Universities and technology development companies (large, small and micro-sized start-ups)

Valuable experience in the oil and gas and low carbon industries as a both developer and service provider. Developer experience includes technical, commercial, financial, major project management and change management of subsurface, wells, subsea and platform developments at oil and gas companies Shell, BP, Marathon Oil and small independent Ramco Energy and at low-carbon development company Pale Blue Dot Energy. Service sector experience includes strategic business development, commercial project management and commercialisation of major R&D programmes.

Experience of corporate finance - including in companies that are publicly quoted, privately held and private equity backed (including an IPO).

Experience of major project management - comfortable managing and directing substantial projects, having been Project Director for a £140 million subsea development, and the Project Director of a pioneering £2.5 billion onshore and offshore development project in carbon capture and storage arena.
